Progress and Development Review (PDR)

Birkbeck's success depends on the performance and ongoing development of its staff. The College is committed to fostering the learning and development of staff in ways that are appropriate to their individual needs and College expectations.

The Progress and Development Review (PDR) is designed to assist in the achievement of those goals. It provides a framework within which professional staff and research staff can discuss their work and development systematically.


In general having a PDR will give you:-

  • An opportunity to say how you think you are performing.
  • An opportunity to receive feedback and recognition of achievements.
  • An opportunity to express any difficulties you may be having and explore ways of overcoming these.
  • To discuss any support or development you may require.
  • To discuss your future career and progression.
