Trade Union membership

Membership of a union is a matter for individual decision and staff are free to join any trade union they wish. However, for terms and conditions of service Birkbeck recognises:

• UCU as the sole negotiating body for members of the academic, research, teaching & scholarship and professional & support  (grade 7 and above) staff groups

• UNISON as the sole negotiating body for members of the professional & support staff group

• UNITE as  the sole negotiating body for members of the technical and craft staff groups

The name of each bodies Branch President can be found at the links included above or from Human Resources. A noticeboard for Trade Union use is near the reception in Malet Street.
